Matthew 20:17-28
A mother wants the best for her sons
Power and position and prestige
Her timing couldn’t worse
Jesus talks about the curse
Of suffering that will come
And not ease
What is this life he leads
The journey taken
Engaging all the world by word and deed
The way of life is service
This what you must learn
Not pious cod Uriah Heap
Let your daily step be firm
Practise love in everything you do
You won’t always be liked
And that is true
You’ll meet a world caught up in every sin
You won’t escape the trouble
It will bring
But carry on your journey to the cross
A life of love knows pain
But never loss
His dying breath spoke of paradise
I trust that word
And follow that advice
