The Lord didn’t argue politics
Or say ‘I told you so’
He didn’t say ‘you should you must’
Or tell you where to go
He didn’t give out lectures
Or ever pontificate
He gave his time to everyone
Come they soon or late
No, the Lord told stories
To reveal the world to us
And then invited everyone
To sort out fact from fuss
We are all in this together
That’s how he played the game
And each one of us is different
And somehow all the same
He is in all he did
The perfect human being
And we can be just like him
If we adopt his way of seeing
The achievement of our life
To be the best that we can be
And that means love thy neighbour
