Jericho Road

I am lucky in my neighbours

Those who live nearby

Kind and friendly people

Look you in the eye

Help you any way they can

Pass the time of day

Do not crowd you give you space

Stop and say good day

I too must prove a neighbour

To anyone I meet

Not just the local people

But strangers in the street

Be on your guard the world is rough

Just like that Jericho road

But many a one is found there

Carrying a heavy load

And let the Lord be neighbour

The nearest one to you

Converse with him and listen

You’ll be very glad you do

The wisdom and the warmth of heart

The world so badly needs

Can emanate from your own door

To nourish and to feed
