At school I learned to make my mark
I learned to write my name
Our name is special intimate
Nothing sounds quite the same
To hear it spoken tenderly
To see it written down
Here I am and here’s my place
And this is my home town
A day will come eventually
They will write my name in stone
On a cold memorial
A grave with my headstone
And some will come and stay a while
And fondly think of me
And maybe leave a flower
For the one who used to be
But faith now tells me something else
A brilliant line I hear
Rejoice your name is written in heaven
There is no need to fear
No need to frown in misery
To look so sad on earth
Your name is written in heaven
The Lord gives us new birth
