Mother and Child

Shalom the word that Jesus says today

The peace of God beyond our wildest dreams

And in Ukraine a mother and her baby

Are bombed and blasted

Blown to smithereens

 

And Putin has new missiles on his side

And talks of them like Hitler in his pride

Placing trust in cruel weaponry

Destroying trust for all our citizenry

 

We’ve done the same

We’ve played the game of war

We bombed Iraq

We didn’t keep a score

And they came back at us a bitter foe

And bombed our streets

And didn’t let us know

 

Let all our efforts seek to stop the war

And pray that wiser heads may lead the way

A mother and her child they are no more

A shame on all who look the other way
