To get into my bed

Lamplight by my bed head

Good book to be read

Duvet all about me

Bedroom curtains drawn

House is settling down to sleep

How quickly comes the dawn

 

Brian is very good with words

Margaret said of me

So I fill my day with words

Writing constantly

This accolade reported

After Margaret died

Felt awarded a degree

Sent from the other side

 

Spent my life considering words

I’ve seen what they can do

Rouse you to the best of self

Or destroy what’s left of you

All our words have power

Think of what you say

Examine self at bedtime
