Faithful in the Lord

Heimat homeland heaven

That is what we are told

Our homeland is in heaven

But our ears have grown cold

We think this world is all we have

And it’s a vale of tears

At least that hasn’t gone away

There is no paradise here

 

Yet on the mountain something shone

A brightness in his face

And what they saw transfigured them

They would never forget the place

We saw the glory of the Lord

When with him on the mountain

A counterweight to Calvary

And death’s cruel counting

 

Life is too good to end in death

It will not be the end

Goodness truth and justice

Will find they have a friend

The Lord endured the cross for us

There is no greater love

So we will follow to the end

And meet in God above
