Here in Stirling Castle
You could not see the king
But if you spoke to a minister
He might get near to him
A long line of anterooms
Kept the folk at bay
Only privileged people
Got near to have their say
And I’m told that with dictators
The same routine goes on
Putin say or Stalin
The line goes on and on
Only a trusted few
Approach the seat of power
And even they aren’t trusted
Beyond a paltry hour
But at the throne of heaven
Access is open wide
To pray just say Our Father
You are welcome all inside
And what you say is powerful
You have the ear of grace
Your prayer is always listened to
With God you have your place
