Saw blue sky today
And remembered happiness
And summer holidays in the glen
And daddy’s smiling face
Now I see that sky again
Catch that glimpse of blue
Peacefulness is all around
Can it now be true?
Was it standing at the grave?
Michael by my side
That blowing wind strong westerly
Blew all cares aside
Now my growing grandsons
Are all my care and joy
And Michael in his manhood
My lovely son my boy
And old age is not misery
As I have feared and felt
The child I was the boy I knew
How the cards were dealt
I flourished and I failed awhile
Then sank out of sight
But I surfaced and I’m sailing now
And Today? Today is bright
