Jesus wept to see Jerusalem
Knowing well how he would be destroyed
Knowing too the fate that lay in store
In days to come of Roman force
Employed
And when the worst was done
And he had died
And women at the tomb
And Mary cried
He comforted the woman in her grief
And to us all the Lord
Now brings relief
The worst that can happen is we die
And suffer loss of hope
Forever cry
But Jesus in his risen life portends
The end of sorrows
End of pointless ways
Brings us life
Promise of endless days
Life is too lovely
Just to end
It is transformed
Another world we’ll find
If goodness is its own reward
And love the greatest joy
The tears of Christ were not in vain
Death shall not destroy
