Chetlum
The fellow called it
My father had to laugh
Cheltenham he meant
A fond and fervent gaff
Some pal he made in Nellie’s
The little local pub
In the days of his retirement
And mammy’s lovely grub
And today I had a ‘daddy’ day
I watched the horses run
At Cheltenham of course
And yes I had some fun
Picked two winners and a third
Not bad for one like me
But I didn’t part with money
Not one for that you see
My father studied horse and form
Course and distance too
Read all the connoisseurs
I think he was one too
I just go for names I like
And check out all the odds
And Midnight Shadow did the trick
Aren’t I the lucky…bod!
