What Happened To You?

I took a tablet

When I was ill

And yes it calmed me down

But the greatest help

To mental health

Was a counsellor in town

The talking cure

Compassionate therapy

Belonging and connection

Restored my sanity

Human ills are human

They need the human touch

Do not ask, ‘what’s wrong with you?’

It won’t help very much

Ask instead the human story

Say what happened to you

We all share this world’s journey

I’ll walk in step with you
