The written word upon the page
Comes from a human voice
That draws us in authentically
It speaks we have no choice
The power the spirit invites us in
Their inner world now mine
And so at home we settle down
And follow line by line
I have just discovered Philip Kerr
His final book my first
Re-reading him I find again
The reason for my thirst
Bernie Gunther Berlin cop
Solving Berlin crime
Lives a life of honour
Amid the murk and grime
The Church proposes saints to us
Their story lights the dark
Philip Kerr in writing
Gives us a vital spark
So now I have more books to read
Good writing to enjoy
I’ll let you know how I get on
