Keep Fit

Olympic games took place outside my house
We ran around the crescent for the race
The FA Cup was fought on the Bottom Field
Every Sunday morning a sacred place
And running home from church
In evening dark
Passing lamp posts high adrenalin
The Four-minute mile in impressive style
I ran

Now my old bones ache
I sit and watch
Euros football
Tennis cricket golf

I may be slow
But still we must keep moving
Movement is the thing
Life’s element
A daily walk is what the doctor orders
Do what you can
Do not say you can’t

When I was young and fast
Athletics was the game
Leigh Harriers the local group near by
Now I watch a young lass
Keely Hodgkinson her name
Watch her go
Watch her really fly
