Mills and mines and factory
Hardy honest folk
Daily grind for daily bread
The working person’s yoke
Cheery folk and friendly
Who liked a pint and smoke
Allotments whippets pigeons
Would lend you when you’re broke
Then the summer solstice
Mayo on the train
River farm and cousins
Enjoyed in sun or rain
Loveliness of Erris
Landscape wide and free
The world is not all cobblestones
There is mountain moor and sea
Faith and loving family
Warmth and collie dog
Happy childhood lovely school
Memories of the bog
Lovely church devotion
Incense candle flame
Tabernacle truthfulness
This heritage I name
