A house I used to live in
Stands open to the sky
Abandoned ruined desolate
A sore sight for your eye
But now a new developer
With plans to renovate
Means Acre House will rise again
And meet a better fate
And people are abandoned
Just like that ruined place
Fall foul of broken homes
Are robbed of homely grace
And wander lonely empty eyed
Looking out for care
Are vandalised and compromised
And left to lonely stare
The work of love is never done
The kindness of the heart
And hungry souls are everywhere
And every day we start
To do the gospel of the Lord
To practise all his law
Restoring ruined houses
A work of human awe
