Mark 8:27-33
God’s way involves suffering
That is very clear
What does the good man do
When the wicked one draws near?
Peter makes it very plain
Ready to draw the sword
Jesus will not have it
Enough to speak the word
Jesus knows his enemies
Will eventually draw blood
He is a provocation
Simply by being good
And violent men use violence
Exerting all their might
The man of God can only stand
An obstacle in plain sight
I can’t get over Hitler
And the tragedy he caused
Or the fact that Britain declared war
When perhaps it could have paused
Self-defence is one thing
Aggression quite another
We need the honest man of God
To show us sister brother
