Earthquakes do not kill people
Buildings do
The Turkish lady said
And clearly that is true
If foundations cannot hold
When the ground is shaken
What a fall there will be then
So many lives then taken
The physical destruction
So plain for us to see
The tragic loss of life
The utter misery
Reminds us of the Lord’s words
The house now built on sand
The lack of true foundation
Brings havoc to the land
And this a vivid picture
Of spiritual misery
The people who lack structure
The joy of family
The lost ones and the lonely
Who live in woe and fear
The wreckage of humanity
Lies all around us here
