Via Crucis

I think you’ll go to heaven

When you’re seventy-seven

My grandson said to me

I’m seventy-six

I haven’t got much time!

Lucas is five

The age for asking questions

Death and heaven are on his list just now

But I hope to prove him wrong

And keep singing my own song

Every day a good day

Anyhow

Happiness wins in the end

I knew that from the Stations of the Cross

Carrying a lighted candle round the church

Watching Jesus as he meets his death

And returning to the altar at the end

To kneel before the sacramental Lord

We live the Via Crucis

Everyone

And happiness wins in the end
