Remembrance Sunday

They’ll march and they’ll remember

Deaths in foreign fields

The Falklands and Afghanistan

And Passchendaele’s proud bield

A hundred years remembering

Each soldier’s dying day

And monuments at home we’ll build

Remembering the fray

But Christ said in Gethsemane

To put away the sword

Those who live that way will die

This his fateful word

He let himself be taken

For death comes late or soon

And on the cross forsaken

It ended in a tomb

There is a way of living

That leads to endless life

And a road we call forgiving

That helps us end the strife

Suffering will come to all

It’s how we bear it now

That separates the holy ones

And keeps the sacred vow
