Mammy needed a passport
To go to Germany
To go visit her daughter in Dusseldorf
But the office would not give her one
The reason very clear
Mammy was an Irish girl
She didn’t belong here
Mammy wasn’t having it
She made her case with vim
Just a short-term document
So they’d let her in
A British visitor passport
That would do the trick
Still they would not give it her
She would have to stick
Then she played her winning hand
They could not deny
When I was born she said to them
Mayo was British aye
And my husband fought a war for you
British army boy
They surrendered then and let her go
To the Rhine and German joy
