Today

There’s what we say and what we do

Both are our concern

Both require attending to

Important what we’ll learn

 

The Lord he was a preacher

He dealt in the spoken word

But he also healed the helpless

And so his voice was heard

 

The things we say the things we do

And yes the things we think

Contribute to a broken world

Or lead it to the brink

 

Let every word be kindly said

Let every deed be kind

Let every thought you think today

Reveal a holy mind

+ In the gospel today, Luke 7:1-10, Jesus finishes his speaking and heals the centurion’s servant. Our daily life involves speaking, doing and thinking. It also needs to involve times of quiet reflection, of stillness. A life lived in these simple ways powerfully works for good in the world.
