Something In The Wind

It’s the person that we mourn

The human being

She’s been part of the furniture

Always always seen

The Nation’s granny Lilibet

Reverence for age

But when it’s over brace yourself

Time to turn the page

We are quite a troubled nation

Run by gents and toffs

And a scallywag prime minister

Whose lately been seen off

We are not what we’re cracked up to be

Though decent folk abide

Time for some humility

And less much less of pride

Our politics still reeks

Of aristocrats and plebs

The Tory landed gentry

The labour union reds

You can see it in their attitudes

The posh boys and the rest

And change it comes so slowly

Then suddenly with zest
