Busy world outside
In here quiet space
Candlelight tranquillity
Person face to face
Tabernacle presence
Person in the pew
Heart engages heart
I will speak with you
This is no long distance
Looking far away
No far out horizon
This is close – to pray
God is ever by your side
Turn in here and see
I am with you always
Nearer my God to thee
The Lord is in the quiet place
In chapel church and heart
The Lord was in our human flesh
And that was torn apart
In every cruel encounter
The Lord is nailed again
Let quiet hearts grow strong in him
And suffer this world’s pain
