Golden Days

They were young and I was young

And life was all before us

Stonebridge Park in ’72

And happiness was o’er us

The Amber Sands were playing

Relations gathered round

A Mayo Day completely

We stood on holy ground

They met and wed in London

But dreamed of Ireland west

But years were lived in England

You have to make the best

Two boys the blessing on their days

Their honest toil grew well

And then they found their happy place

Time to up and sell

Made their home in Westport

Close beside the sea

And Ireland’s holy mountain

A Clew Bay reverie

Now looking back on fifty years

The long and winding road

God bless the day that’s in it

God bless that fine abode
