They got rid of JFK and Luther King
Somebody wants you dead
That’s the thing
John the Baptist gets arrested
For ‘speaking truth to power’
Bring on the dancing girl
This will be the hour
Power does not bother with the truth
Leave that to philosophers
And to a dreamy youth
Power wants position
Order and control
Truth can stay in colleges
Wrapped up in dusty scroll
People need good leadership
Example they can follow
A culture of equality
Not drums that echo hollow
Leaders create a climate
That people live and breathe
Then if wise they leave the scene
Before they have to grieve
