Bethany and welcome too
Friends around the table
Place of ease and happiness
Eat what you are able
Familiar faces Lazarus
Brought back from the dead
Living proof before your eyes
Death’s defeat instead
Love’s anointing given
Perfume fills the room
Jesus gentle patient
Conscious of his doom
Soon his living breathing frame
Extended on a cross
Then wrapped in shroud and buried
Cries out for this world’s loss
Wherever death is meted out
The suffering goes on
The foolishness of humans
Visited on the Son
But the fragrance of his living days
The sorrow of his death
Bursts out anew to anoint the world
The Holy Spirit’s breath
