Look
All these years
I have slaved for you
Never disobeyed your orders
You have never given me a thing
Oh how blind are we!
Blessed by God throughout our lives
We call ourselves but slaves
Doing what we are told we say
And nothing to show for it
And what does he say back?
My child you are with me always
All I have is yours
So,
Am I grateful for my life?
And for the road I travelled?
And for the gospel that I heard?
Did I get enough?
Others seem to have a life
High life anyway
Am I jealous of what they have?
Or is my life okay?
Can I make my peace with God?
Or am I moaning still?
That’s the question for my life
Sweet or bitter pill
