She gets her water from the well
Cooks on an open fire
Lives in her ancestral home
All her heart’s desire
She knows her neighbours knows them well
Involved in local life
Books surround her on a shelf
Butter on the knife
Irish country cottage
The world comes to her door
See her world on You Tube
Walk her earthen floor
Fire and water feed her life
Keep her from the cold
A gentle woman truly
She will not grow old

+ Margaret Gallagher lives in a cottage near Belcoo, County Fermanagh. She is famed for the simplicity of her life style, without running water, without electricity. She is 80 years old this year.
