My job was to listen to people
And if I could respond
My job was to talk to people
Make a helpful sound
The longer that I did it
The better I became
You learn a lot by doing
You don’t just stay the same
And people they empowered me
They trusted me so well
And when I spoke well I knew it
On their faces I could tell
And when I left the priesthood
I stayed in the same groove
Family mediation
That was my next move
Human conversation
The way to run this world
Be careful how you say things
Listen to what you’re told
When Jesus came among us
He chose the preacher’s art
To listen and to speak to us
To inspire and heal the heart
