I found it at a parish jumble sale
Vivid picture of Alfred on the cover
A Ladybird book brilliant brilliant stuff
History how to learn it best way ever
Now today another vivid picture
Mosaic in a field of Rutland clay
Roman villa now revealed in splendour
What style they had there then back in the day
And pictures of old Ireland aplenty
Arrive by post my sister’s calendar
Annual reminder of my forebears
Scenes of Ireland Cliffs of Moher there
And pictures in my head remain aplenty
Of days I spent on Mayo’s western shore
Faces of my people gone before me
In hope of heaven we walk towards that door
