A friend of mine has passed away
Or should I say ‘has died’
For both of us are northerners
And bluntness is our pride
And he had twice the given lot
Born in Lancashire
But growing up in Bradford
Yes Yorkshire I fear
Straightforward in his talking
But thoughtful with it all
A quiet man in many ways
Reliable and all
A big man in appearance
A man of solid frame
And solid in his judgements
Always played the game
Quite a judge of character
He kept his powder dry
Treated people fairly
His comments could be wry
Asked me to assist him
When Province was his rule
I learned a lot from Kevin
A man who kept his cool
