How the mighty have fallen
Fred Dibnah brought them down
The chimney stacks of Bolton
Undermined and fired t’t ground
And that is what will happen
To a house that’s built on sand
It all comes crashing down
When storms rage through the land
And sadly that’s what happens
To human lives and all
When foundations are forgotten
And not put there at all
And when the words of Jesus
Are treated as passe
They will return to haunt us
They will not pass away
One day this life of mine will end
This edifice will fall
And what will they remember
If anything at all
Three things will last to tell them
I once stood on this ground
Faith and hope and love of God
And that will see them sound
