People invited to a wedding
Begin to find excuses not to come
The kingdom and the banquet
Attractive though they be
Cannot compare with selfishness
My own concerns are paramount
I hope you’ll excuse me
The climate and our planet
Our beautiful blue home
Our circling globe
Water wind and wave
Desert sands and polar ice
Mountains and great plains
All this a heavenly kingdom
What will we do to save?
Begin to make excuses
Find reasons not to care
While all the time
We wish each other well
My own concerns are paramount
What’s your name again?
The here and now is all I know
What’s that? The road to hell?
