A Care Home is not home
But it is care
And care is what we need
To be looked after
Other days had other ways
Extended family
The modern world
A stranger to our laughter
Giving up our home
The final wrench
Adrift upon the sea
Humanity
But we can make a home
All around us
The grateful heart
Content with what can be
Should I live long enough
To pose a problem
I hope the grace of God
Will see me through
I left home as a child
When I was meek and mild
Experience will show me
What to do
My mother ran a care home
Brilliantly too
She cared for folk
Danced around the room
And in the dark of their dying day
She held their hands and prayed
And helped them say goodbye
See you soon
