Sleek white pencil cutting through the green
London train
Out of Stirling station
Sitting at my bus stop
Ochil Hills beyond
I’m glad I’m here
In this Scottish nation
That pencil’s bound for London town
Left Inverness at breakfast time
A scenic journey south
And leaving Stirling
Edinburgh is next
I took that train a time or two
When Margaret was well
Appointment in Newcastle
Freeman hospital
Now the trains I leave alone
No need to journey south
The town of Stirling does me very well
The beauty of my surroundings
The hills the Highland Line
And passing trains can pass
For here I dwell
