Post war and married
Belated honeymoon
Sat on rocks
At the edges of Lough Conn
Sunny days and happy times
Must have been a dream
Or emerging from a nightmare
On and on
Mum was making bombs
And dad was firing them
Strange jobs
For such gentle peaceful folk
Holiday in Ireland ‘46
Whole new world to face
Starting up in those days
Was no joke
The story is now over
That young couple gone
Won’t say dead
For that I don’t believe
They died yes they died
But in dying found new life
Our dying day I trust will
Undeceive
