Her name was Nellie Donoghue
She came from Carrowmore
And lived with us in Rutland Road
All those years ago
She bought me my first missal
When I went away
I have it still a claw mark there
When Bruce was want to pray
She often spoke of the Holy Name
That church in Manchester
And holy names were on her lips
When surprise she’d register
Well honest to God I’d hear her say
Jesus Mary and Joseph
And talk! She could talk away
She was the loveliest person
She was my mother’s great true friend
My mammy got her started
When she came from Carrowmore
Conductor on the buses
She made her life in Manchester
A husband and sons two
On this feast of the Holy Name
I remember Nellie Donoghue
