He is not bitter
He does not point the finger of blame
38 years in prison
A long time all the same
A black man in America
Is colour involved in this?
DNA has cleared him
A sorry sorry mess
Life is full of trouble
Injustice everywhere
Many folk are bitter
Give the angry stare
Jesus was arrested
Blamed for things not true
Nailed him to a cross
How has it been for you?
The man prayed in prison
This place now his life
All those years of suffering
All those years of grief
Now he wants to live this day
And all the days to come
Isn’t that a lesson to us!
Rise and greet the sun
