I met an old friend yesterday
He isn’t very well
In truth he so neglects himself
He’s on the road to hell
He wanted me to talk to him
I did I told him straight
I was shocked to see him so distraught
The enemy at the gate
I too have been where he now is
Though I did not hit the drink
But I have known katatonic
As low as you can sink
Our spirit needs affirming
A reason to go on
A counsellor beside us
Talk straight and cheer us on
I came away uncertain
What will he do now?
But in myself more energised
To live my life and how!
The vision shocked me to the core
How low some people get
Have mercy Lord and heal us all
There is healing for us yet
