I wouldn’t do it if I were fit
And I’m not fit these days
I take my hat off to them
But still I am amazed
To queue for hours overnight
A moment in the Hall
It’s mesmerising so it is
The relentless footfall
Yes ‘I was there’ is in it
Reverence is in it too
Being part of history
In societal glue
And those now in it don’t complain
It is worth the while
Worth the wait of endless hours
Unending defile
Those who cannot comprehend
May write it off as nonsense
But that is now to go too far
It doesn’t fit in your sense
There are things in life beyond our ken
Beyond our comprehending
Sometimes we know not what or why
The meaning has no ending
