People in the pouring rain
Procession of umbrellas
Come to pay their last respects
Business for flower sellers
A misty damp September day
Birthday of Our Lady
Elizabeth joins the heavenly court
Surely she is ready
Head of State she embodied us
Kept us all together
Presidents and dictators
Don’t know that kind of weather
Death is powerful drama
Stops us where we stand
Remembering our loved ones
Our memory to command
Milestone on the walk of life
Marker on the road
We go on without her
Ahead is our abode
One day it will be our turn
Our days come to their end
But we shall wake in God’s own love
The Lord our faithful friend
