Grandiosity

Is the order of the day

Everything must be bigger than it is

We must give people spectacle

Magnificent sights and sounds

Gone for good the ordinary

Declared now out of bounds

 

The Queen has died – how terrible

We must declare alarm

Call the news now devastating

And shocking – where’s the harm?

We are players in the drama

The world must hold its breath

I’ve got a load of superlatives

And they’ll be done to death

 

The Queen has died and it is sad

Sad for us to hear

But she was old and failing

The end was clearly near

She was lovely and was wonderful

Let the tributes come

But devastating (?) and shocking (?)
