Mothers don’t have to say
They only have to look
For the look is always love
Even when they scold
This person is my origin
Where my life began
She nurtured me and fed me
Before I was a man
And letting go
She holds me still in love
She might annoy me sometimes
Watching from above
We have to leave our Nazareths
Break away from home
Only to come back again
This time on our own
Mary in the Gospel
Is presence more than words
Do whatever he tells you her advice
And standing by the cross
Faithful to the end
Given to us as Christ’s last gift
A mother and a friend
Ave Maria
