Memories of my father
I write down for my son
That he may know the man he was
Know whom he came from
Absorbing more than stories
But grace passed on in kind
Through me my father and my son
Find their lives entwined
So John writes in his letter
About the man he came to know
The Son of God the living one
To you now I will show
What he heard what he saw
And touched with his own hands
The Word who is life I give to you
That you may understand
The Gospel story history books
The Church in every place
All owe their power to this one source
The witness and the grace
So let your life be witness
In everything you do
To the love of God in Jesus
Let this be seen in you
