At this evening hour in my youth
I knelt in college chapel
Silent prayer
Forty students
Dressed in black
Rosary by their sides
Redemptorists in the making
Silent enterprise
Prayer was so important
Morning noon and night
Silent meditation with the Lord
I am grateful for the habit
I learn its lesson still
The company of Christ
And know his will
To be in someone’s presence
To listen and be still
To seek and ask and knock
To understand God’s will
To feel your spirit strengthening
A settling in the soul
To be supported not alone
Achieves life’s every goal
