When I Die

When someone dies
Words come to an end
Silence reigns
For memory we send
Thinking of the days
The hours we spent
You and I together
Now it’s rent

When mammy died
I made a cup of tea
Middle of the night
Just dark and me
Aware a world
She no longer knew
Absorb that truth
One day it will be you

The Lord upon the cross
Shows how to die
Yield your soul to God
No need to cry
Comfort one another
Hold the hand
I’ll see you then
On heaven’s waiting strand
