Thomas had his doubts
Wouldn’t you?
A man was crucified
The nails the spear
Laid to rest
To lie a thousand year
He refused belief
He makes that very clear

The others thought indeed
They saw a ghost
An appearance of a man
The Lord they knew
He invited them to touch
Not just to look
It can’t be him
It simply can’t be true

Many now believe the Easter story
Just as many, more
Refuse the claim
The Lord himself reveals to us
I am the living Lord
Live in me
Teach the world to trust

My father never visited the dead
He’d seen too much
On bloody battlefields
He loved life every day
A witness in his way
God is a God of the living
Wouldn’t you say?
