Matthew 8:18-22
Why leave
The comfort of your home
The love of family
Why choose
A wandering preacher’s life
On the roads of Galilee
Why not
Stay home in Nazareth
A carpenter of skill
Make furniture
Or build a house
Live a life at will
Why tell
Your stories parables
When they will meet rebuff
Why try to change this awkward world
So made of stubborn stuff
Why take
The road for Jerusalem
When you know what lies in store
Why suffer torment cruelty
At Pontius Pilate’s door
Why let
Them take you for a fool
And crown your head with thorns
Why suffer death upon a cross
While all the world looks on
Because
Of love you say to me
Because of love unknown
To give the world your very self
That I might be reborn
