Had myself a ready meal today
It’s handy and I’m grateful
But I know
It’s not the same as proper food
Not like mammy’s dinners
Not the same at all
But there you go
Fish pie was the speciality today
Okay but I wouldn’t give it five
Hint of haddock promise of prawn
Suspicion of salmon clue of of cod
All very nice
But better if they’d stayed alive
For mammy
Potato was essential
And something that had
Looked over a gate
Meat and veg in other words
Oh she was a cook!
I’ll shop tomorrow
Find a better fate
